Chinese studies scholars and Stanford Libraries are celebrating the digitization of a selection of Chinese rare books in a collaboration with the National Central Library of Taiwan (NCL). As mentioned in a previous blog post introducing the 6 month long project, a selection of 210 volumes from 26 titles in the holdings of the East Asia Library and the Bowes Art & Architecture Library were digitized by Digital Production Group (DPG) and then delivered to NCL for its Rare Books Database in November to complete the project. Please pardon our radio (blog?) silence for the past several months--it’s been a whirlwind of boxes, folders, files, and finding aid updates here in University Archives! 

The Stanford Archives has been furiously processing our backlogged collection materials with the help of our new student workers for the fall quarter. Since the late summer, we have processed approximately 154.25 linear feet of archival materials. (For scale, 1 record storage carton measures 1.5 linear feet, while 1 manuscript box equals 0.5 linear feet.)

I am delighted and excited to announce that Lauren Sorensen is joining Stanford Libraries as a new staff member of Digital Library Systems and Services. Lauren’s first day will be Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
